Tapit NFC Marketing

NSW Government uses Tapit.

Task

The NSW Government approached Tapit to develop a solution that enhanced a visitors experience with the Rocks Walking Tour, a historical walk consisting of 37 different sites which hold historical significance to Australia's oldest suburb.

The NSW Government wanted to create a way for visitors to interact with rich digital content which was effortless to access via their mobile phone.

Solution

Using the Tapit permanent solution, The NSW Government created uniquely designed Tapit enabled information points located at each of the 37 historical locations. Each uniquely designed Tapit point allowed The NSW Government to deliver rich location based content such as videos, images, text and maps relating to each historical site.

Tapit also ensured the content was optimised for a mobile experience that allowed for content to be displayed seamlessly on a variety of different smartphones.

Results

The first NFC based tourism project ever conducted in Australia.

As the project is a permanent solution, The NSW Government now has the ability to offer this user friendly service to visitors 365 days a year.

The NSW Government can now update content via the Tapit platform without having to replace any physical element in the field.

The NSW Government can now better understand digital interactions with their physical historical sites thanks to reporting via the Tapit platform allowing the NSW Government to better optimise their digital content and provide the best possible visitor experience with the Rocks Walking Tour.

This project is viewed as a global benchmark using Tapit for tourism specific purposes.
