Virgin Mobile uses Tapit at Splendour in the Grass

Task

Virgin Mobile wanted to offer their customers a unique event experience as part of their sponsorship with "Splendour in the Grass", one of Australia's largest music festivals. Virgin Mobile goal was to allow people to effortlessly interact with the Virgin Mobile brand physically at the event while also offering the ability to share these experiences digitally with friends on Facebook via a simple tap.

Solution

Using the Tapit Events solution, Virgin Mobile created a simple, fun and magical experience for Virgin mobile customers who attended Splendour in the Grass.

Developing integration between Tapit & Facebook, Virgin Mobile customers could sign up via Facebook to receive a Tapit enabled wristband upon arrival as well as the ability to invite one of their friends on Facebook .

Each wristband stored a user's Facebook ID, a Tapit enabled unit was then positioned inside a dedicated Virgin area known as the "Posh Pit" where users could simply "tap" their wristband to win random prizes such as phones, concert tickets and Beats by Dre headphones.

If a person won a specific prize their status would be updated automatically bragging to friends what they just had won! Each prize won equated to a unique status update to their wall.

"Posh Pit" users could also "tap" to enter which automatically checked them in on Facebook showing friends where they were at the event.

Over 1,250 registered wristbands across the 3 day festival
